Bucharest and Ilfov remain at the top of new housing developments

  • According to the latest INS data, in the fourth quarter of 2019, 21,075 new dwellings were built, 1,740 more dwellings compared to the fourth quarter of 2018.
  • By residence area, in the fourth quarter of 2019, most homes were built in the urban area (60.3%).

The distribution of how the new buildings were financed shows that, in the fourth quarter of 2019, compared to the fourth quarter of 2018, both the number of houses made from private funds increased by 1,688 houses and those from public funds with 52 houses.

The distribution in the regional profile in the fourth quarter of 2019, compared to the fourth quarter of 2018, shows an increase in the number of completed homes in the following development regions:

  • Bucharest – Ilfov (+1049 dwellings),
  • West (+904),
  • North East (+428),
  • North – West (+295),
  • South – West Oltenia (+200)
  • South – Muntenia (+88).

Declines occurred in two development regions: South East (-666 homes) and Center (-558).
