Pollution reached record highs Sunday evening and Monday morning in Bucharest, exceeding PM 2.5 and PM 10 limits. The numbers were over 900% over the allowed limit.
Sunday night there were even 900-1,000% exceeding the maximum permissible limits for pollution with PM2.5 (suspended particles smaller than 2.5 microns in diameter – from burns, for example) and almost 800% for PM10 (suspended particles smaller than 10 microns in diameter – from dust or pollen).
On Monday morning, at 8:00 AM, the sensors from Morii Lake reported 754% over the maximum allowed limit for PM2.5. This means 189 micrograms per cubic meter – compared to the limit of 25 µg / m³ admitted by the World Health Organization.
At PM10, the sensors recorded 476% above the maximum limit of 238 micrograms per cubic meter – compared to the limit of 50 µg / m³.
